A couple of weeks ago, our Pathfinders kids and teens from 5th grade through high school had the opportunity to attend summer camp at Cowboy’s Rest Camp from June 17 to 21, 2024. Summer camp is a tremendous blessing for our Pathfinders kids and teens as it provides an opportunity for them to leave behind their often difficult, heartbreaking circumstances for a week and to enjoy a time of fun and recreation while being immersed in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
As the kids traveled to and from Cowboy’s Rest camp by bus, we got to see not just a physical journey but a spiritual one as well. The impact of camp goes beyond the week away; it extends into the lives of these children and teens, helping them to escape the poverty culture, and to choose a different path in life as followers of Christ.
While the older kids were at Cowboy’s Rest, our younger Pathfinders kids, kindergarten through 4th grade, had their own adventure at SURGE, an active and energetic day camp described as “VBS on steroids.” Thanks to the generous support of Life Church in Reno, these children got to experience the Gospel in a fun and engaging environment while creating lasting memories with their Pathfinders friends.
The camp experience is not just a week-long getaway; for many kids it is a transformational experience where they make life-changing decisions for Christ. Students who commit to following Jesus during the camp are given the opportunity to participate in an 8-week discipleship program, where they get support, guidance and mentoring to spur spiritual growth.
We are immensely grateful to all our donors whose contributions made this year’s camps and discipleship program possible. Your generosity has allowed these children to experience a life-changing week, fostering friendships, building faith, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us and for making a positive impact on the lives of these marginalized and often forgotten kids. Your generosity and kindness are transforming the lives of these children and helping to give them “a hope and a future.“
